Frequently Asked Questions
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle hands-on healing technique that promotes deep relaxation, balance, stress relief, and overall well-being. It is a way to connect with life-force energy, which is the energy that runs through every person and living thing on the planet. Our connection to life-force energy keeps us vibrant, healthy, peaceful, and on purpose. Reiki has been demonstrated to lead to deep relaxation which takes the body out of a state of fight or flight and allows the body to heal and repair itself.
Is Reiki Like Massage?
Not really. Both are relaxing, and a massage table is traditionally used for a Reiki session, so that you may recline and allow your body to rest. But Reiki can also be conducted in a chair, or standing up, or from a distance.
Reiki does not involve any physical manipulation, unlike massage. Reiki is conducted fully-clothed, and the practitioner gently places their hands in specific placements corresponding to places where energy needs to be moved. There is no hand sliding or massage.
What Is a Reiki Session Like With You?
Receiving Reiki is a relaxing process of resting on a massage table, listening to soothing music, in a peaceful environment, and allowing your energy field to realign with its most natural flow of energy. You are your own best healer, but it is my job as a Reiki practitioner to help remind your body of its restorative flow by channeling healing Reiki energy into your energy field, and by teaching skills to help support the maintenance of your flow. I am there alongside you to gently hold space for you as you process your journey with Reiki.
As a practitioner, I utilize hands-on Traditional Usui Reiki Energy Healing. I also include intuitive guidance in my sessions to explore where there are old stories or current blockages in your energy field, slowing down your flow and keeping you from living your most aligned, peaceful, and passionate life. We will work together to help release those pieces that are ready to flow again and be reintegrated into your energy body.
It is an inspiring process, and I never cease to be amazed at what symbols and connections come through spirit guides and ancestors in support of the healing work. Come and connect more deeply to the life that you want to live!
How Many Sessions of Reiki Will I Need?
The number of sessions needed is unique to each client. Some clients come for a specific concern, or challenge they’re working through, and may space sessions out at a shorter interval. Others want to support their energy flow consistently, and come for a much longer time but may space sessions about by a month or so. It is completely up to you when you would like to return for sessions.
Where Can I See You for Reiki?
You can find my schedule on my website homepage. I offer Distance Reiki sessions to clients anywhere in the world, and I offer In-Person Reiki sessions at Revolution Yoga on Lewis Rd in Santa Rosa. Both are equally effective.
How Does Distance Reiki Healing Work?
Everything is made of energy, and all things are connected through intention. Have you ever thought of a friend or loved one, and then received a phone call or message from them? This is because we are all connected by energy and intention. Reiki training teaches how to connect to the energy portals of specific people. This allows a practitioner to tap (always with permission) into your energy field for a healing session. Sessions are conducted over a FaceTime or Google Meet call so that we can communicate throughout the session while I send energy.
Is Reiki a Religious Practice?
No. Reiki is an energetic practice to promote well-being that is deliberately not connected to any religious beliefs. It can be utilized by anyone from any background.
Do You Teach Classes?
Absolutely! I teach Traditional Usui Reiki levels 1, 2, and 3. Look for class listings in the spring and summer. I teach my classes in person so that we can sit down together, dive into the teachings/philosophy and practices of Reiki, and so that the energy attunement transmission happens with us in the same room together.
